This is going to be the final ODI match before the Australian team start their campaign for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 starting on 19 February in Pakistan and Dubai, UAE.

Chen Benhai gave the hosts the lead with a fine field goal in the first quarter following an enterprising team move. But the highlight of the match was Chao Jieming's sensational solo effort in the second quarter.

Ahmad Nadeem, standing right on the left edge of the goal mouth, found the ball from inside the D just in the sixth minute of the opening whistle. He was in the perfect position to execute a slight deflection into the Indian goal and that is what he did to push Pakistan ahead in the match.

Sri Lanka batted first and thanks to captain Charith Asalanka's 127, posted a respectable total of 214 runs on the board. In response, Australia were restricted to 165 runs.

Si Lanka have been very consistent in the ODI format for the last year and a series win against India in August 2024 also boosted their confidence. Now, they have another chance to bag another series - that too against World Champions Australia.
